MVHS Choir 2024- 2025 Quick Start Guide “Friends of MV Choir” – the Volunteer Parent Board 1. Classroom Donation -- $200 per student in 1 choir / $250 per student in 2 choirs
The District does not fund anything other than our Director’s salary. Donations fund our highly valued accompanist, sheet music as well as guest clinicians and voice teachers. These funds also pay for our clinic and competition fees, transportation fees, and our classroom supplies.
Families are asked to make:
- $200 donation per student for one choir - $250 donation per student in two choirs Make your donation through the Google Form or using the Donate link on the Home page.
2. Volunteer Call!
We are looking to continue building our entire volunteer Board for FOMVC – the non-profit, parent-led booster organization that helps to plan and implement events all year long. Graduated parents will happily train. Are you interested in the success of MV Choir? The students and Mrs. Neisinger need you desperately! We have positions such as:
Treasurer – liason to bookkeeper Apparel Coordinators – ideally 1-2 additional parents Fundraising – Raise Right Class Parent Rep – Chambers Class Parent Rep – Concert Choir Class Parent Rep – Treble Clef Class Parent Rep – Vocal Ensemble Group Parent Rep – Beauty Shop Group Parent Rep – Barber Shop Group Parent Rep – Chromatix Hospitality Tour Coordinator Volunteer Coordinator
3. Choir Leadership
The Choir program includes a student-run leadership team. Students set-up concerts, plan social events, and act as liaisons between the FOMVC Board and students. Applications were circulated via our Director.
4. Apparel
Most choir students were fit for apparel in the spring. The remainder must be fit for formal performance attire during the fall in class. We will be wearing formal concert attire starting with our dress rehearsal in September.
5. “Remind”
“Remind” is the standard mass communication method used by Ms. Neisinger via text. ALL PARENTS AND STUDENTS must sign up for Remind.
TEXT the appropriate classroom code to 810-10.
Signing up for Remind is VERY simple, and it is FREE. Students, parents and caregivers opt in to receive these messages with a single text.
We are once again offering the option for MV Choir families to purchase pre-paid ticket packages for the 2024-2025 school year concerts. Please note that the Friends of Monte Vista Choir Ticket Packages are only offered until the first concert of the year, on October 10th.
New this year – Cabaret show tickets are INCLUDED!
• Baritone Package ($680) – 6 tickets for each concert series • Tenor Package ($480) – 4 tickets for each concert series • Alto Package ($360) – 3 tickets for each concert series • Soprano Package ($240) – 2 tickets for each concert series
7. “Be A Mentor” Registration
All families are asked to volunteer throughout the year. We regularly need drivers to transport our choir students to competitions, camps, performances, and retreats. Please register at Be A Mentor, or if you have already created an account, please be sure your account has current information (including updated insurance information).
Go to the SRVUSD website to register or update your Be A Mentor volunteer status. SRVUSD.net Parents & Students Volunteer Requirements, or go to:
8. Verify Contact Information. Not on our mailing list? Ask your student if they filled out the Google form with your contact information!
9. Visit MVchoir.org
This page includes a full explanation of the various choirs and acapella groups, which is especially helpful for new families. Past performances as well as social media links are also available. The website will be updated throughout the year. We encourage you to bookmark the page on your browser.
10. Raise Right
Raise Right is a no-selling program that turns everyday purchases into funds that can be used by students for camp, event and tour costs. Families purchase retail gift cards using the MV Choir enrollment code. The gift cards are used for everyday purchases like gas, groceries, and clothing. Each retailer offers a percentage rebate that is accrued in an MV account for the sole benefit of your student. Please see the flyer for details – if you start this process early, your child’s tour costs and more can be covered with Raise Right funds. If you have any questions about this program, the FOMVC coordinator should be contacted via the weekly MV Choir update emails. We will begin the program in late fall.
